This opportunity is in the Ceded Reinsurance Department.

The Ceded Reinsurance department's mission is to protect the company's surplus through the purchase of reinsurance and provide accurate reporting of liabilities to our reinsurers, broker community, and internal employees, while encouraging innovation and creativity. We are responsible for collecting liability balances, reporting accurate financial statements, following contractual obligations, and ensuring security. Adhering to superior client service principles throughout this process allows our reinsurers and broker partners to become life-long customers and contributing members of our ceded reinsurance community.

Role Description:

In the role of Senior Ceded Reinsurance Manager you will be part of the Ceded Reinsurance department. In this role you will work closely with Underwriters, brokers and actuarial departments to identify and gather information necessary for each reinsurance treaty submission.

Some of the essential functions of this role are:

  • Effectively oversee decisions, implementation and analysis of the Facultative placement process, including audits.
  • Oversee, prepare and distribute Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports
  • Understands and interprets Ceded Reinsurance contracts to report changes and suggestions to Management.
  • Provide necessary reinsurance education and reinsurance program understanding to non-reinsurance departments.
  • Draft and/or track new and renewal program documentation, including reinsurance agreements, agency agreements, subscription agreements, shareholder agreements, etc.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree is Required

Required Qualifications:

  • Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy, planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to set priorities and meet deadlines, with strong analytical and problem solving skills and must work well independently as within a team.
  • Understanding of insurance company operations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010 software, intermediate proficiency with databases and queries.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to think strategically.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10 or more years of reinsurance or related experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience or adequate exposure to Underwriting, Accounting and Claims processes required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting revenue and expenses.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of statutory and GAAP reporting.
  • Professional designations a plus (eg, CPCU, ARe, RPLU, etc).
  • Thorough knowledge of broker market reinsurance contract wordings, and underlying insurance policies and coverages.

In our vision to be First with Co-Workers, compensation is only one piece of the comprehensive total rewards package we offer. The target salary range for this position is $97,000 to $155,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location.
