Position Summary:
The Academic Personnel and Human Resources team for the Schools of Social Ecology and Social Sciences at UCI seeks a highly motivated, analytical team player with great attention to detail, dependability and strong work ethic to provide support and exceptional customer service in the areas of Academic Personnel and Human Resources for, and with, the AP/HR team, faculty, staff, students, programs and initiatives of the schools. As a member of the Schools of Social Ecology and Social Sciences, the incumbent is tasked with upholding and exemplifying excellence in the University's core competencies-- job mastery, goal accomplishment, enterprise contribution and innovation- while representing the two schools campus-wide.
Under the oversight of the Director of Academic Personnel and Human Resources and with direct supervision from the Assistant Director for Academic Personnel and Human Resources, the Senior Personnel Analyst plays a pivotal role in analyzing, reviewing, and processing academic and staff employee personnel functions. This position is critical within the shared services framework as it supports both the School of Social Ecology and the School of Social Sciences. The incumbent has responsibility for a broad range of personnel activities for senate and non-senate faculty, other academic employees, career staff, limited employees, and student workers. This role is designed to enhance efficiency and foster a collaborative approach to personnel management across multiple disciplines. The School of Social Ecology is comprised of 3 departments, 75 senate faculty members, 15 lecturers, 50 career staff, 50 student employees, and 40+ non-senate academic appointments. The School of Social Sciences is one of the largest academic units at UCI, with over 175 faculty, 75 career staff members, 400 graduate students and 6,600 undergraduate students. Social Sciences is home to 9 academic departments and our students comprise 20 percent of the entire UCI student body. Responsibilities as Senior Analyst include academic and staff administration such as academic and staff recruitment, appointments, merit review, promotions, salary and benefits issues, sabbaticals, grievances, equal opportunity and affirmative action issues, layoffs, compensation, payroll entry, timekeeping, training and development and affiliated tasks. Serves as a resource to senior leadership, faculty and staff and functions as liaison to various campus offices. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $73,900.00 - $90,000.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $73,900.00 - $133,700.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
  • 2-5 years of experience in human resources and/or academic personnel administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic and staff HR.
  • Thorough knowledge of organization and college goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions.
  • Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic and staff HR administration.
  • Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials and make critical decisions regarding personnel. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address moderately complex issues and present nuanced analyses.
  • Proven ability to utilize the online UC PATH system, to interpret compensation and the ability to analyze pertinent information recorded in the UC Path reports.
  • Positive work attitude, willing to work as a cooperative and collaborative team member.
  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential information and using sensitivity, tact and discretion in internal and external communications.
  • Demonstrated skill to assess priorities in order to complete work in a timely manner in an environment of deadline constraints, competing priorities and heavy and changing workload.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management and administration.
Special Conditions Required:
  • Additional working hours may be necessary to meet department goals and objectives.
