ABOUT THE ROLE
This position will utilize knowledge of construction products, materials, and methods to writeArchitectural specifications for a variety of complex projects and building types to include education, healthcare, science and technology, commercial, and interior design initiatives, and other diverse building types.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Work as part of the project team, under the guidance of the Architect of Record, to produce Project Manuals utilizing the CannonDesign Master with specification editing software required.
- Author Division 00-14 Architectural sections, and as needed custom sections, for inclusion into the Project Manual.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines - phases, milestone deliveries for various project delivery types.
- Mentor younger Specification Writers and Coordinators to best practices of the industry.
- With a Specification Coordinator, coordinating the Project Manual for all other disciplines.
- Review and provide revisions to projectspecific Keynotes.
- Review in-progress drawings, ensuring complete and coordinated technicalspecifications and offering modifications and improvements when appropriate.
- Propose continual development and improvement of masterspecifications including specialized content for project type or regional conditions as well as sustainable content, based on project work.
- Maintains awareness of industry reference standards and resources.
- Participate in progress meetings scheduled for assigned projects. Educate less experienced staff regarding specification content.
- As required during CA Phase, assist project teams with shop drawing and product substitution review.
- Collaborate with peers, via regularly scheduled firm-widespecificationswriters' meetings, to develop best practices and share knowledge.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, within the firm's compliance policies.
- Support Sustainability goals of the firm.
- Act as a mentor to others.
ABOUT YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Construction, Engineering, or related field.
- Current Architectural or Engineering License required.
- A minimum of 15 years of related experience required in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry - which must include a minimum of six (6) or more years of specifications writing experience.
- Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is essential.
- Advanced technical knowledge is also needed; role is considered a high-level specialist.
- Previous experience working on state of California projects is required.
- CSI certification required.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
- Must be proficient in MS Office suite of programs.
- Must be able to utilize electronic platforms for organizing project information and communicating with project teams, including but not limited to MS Teams, MS One Note, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud and MS Lists is preferred.
- Proficiency inspecification editing software is required, proficiency in e-SPECS for Revit is preferred.
- Experience with Engineering Specifications a plus.

The salary range for this position to be filled in our Los Angeles office is $94,600 to $118,250 a year. This is the anticipated range of base compensation at the time of posting. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
