ImmunityBio, Inc. is a late-stage immunotherapy company developing a broad pipeline of next-generation therapies that drive immunogenic mechanisms for defeating cancer and infectious disease. The company's immunotherapy platform is designed to activate both the innate (natural killer cell and macrophage) and adaptive (T cell) immune systems to create long-term "immunological memory." The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted for review ImmunityBio's resubmission of its Biologics License Application (BLA) for N-803, a first-in-class IL-15 superagonist, plus Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) for the treatment of BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer carcinoma in situ (CIS) with or without Ta or T1 disease, and has set a user fee goal date (PDUFA date) of April 23, 2024.

Position Summary

The Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Manager is responsible for preparing financial and SEC reporting and technical accounting memos. The role will provide technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions and monitor and lead the implementation of new accounting standards. The Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Manager will lead in preparing all financial statements (including Statement of Cash Flows), footnote disclosures and financial reporting packages for internal and external users and will also update and maintain the Master Lease Schedule, Master Promissory Note Schedule, and License Milestone Schedule. The role will partner closely with tax, legal, FP&A, as well as a broad group of cross-functional business teams to provide guidance and analysis while developing effective and efficient accounting and reporting processes.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares the Company's SEC financial reporting on Form 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K, including the creation of auditable support, and leads the analysis of the content.
  • Compile quarterly updates on new accounting pronouncements and SEC regulation updates. Review and update the accounting policy.
  • Research and preparation of technical accounting treatment position papers.
  • Prepare and track the company's major contracts and coordinate with the FP&A and GL team in proper accounting.
  • Prepare and track the company's major license and milestones achievement.
  • Develop and manage SEC filings related to XBRL reporting.
  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  • Responsible for the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for leases, contingent liabilities, and other complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Support the annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors.
  • Support the development and maintenance of company-wide accounting policies.
  • Management analysis and reports on an as-needed basis
  • Liaison with the finance department, internal legal counsel, stock plan provider, transfer agent, and external auditors.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in in Finance, Accounting or Business related fields.
  • CPA required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including minimum of 3 years in top-tier public accounting firms (Big 4 preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with financial reporting, SEC Reporting, and US GAAP
  • Experience with Workiva or Active Disclosure, Etrade EEO, and detail XBRL tagging referred
  • Experience biotech or healthcare industry preferred but not required
  • Leadership experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from conceptualization through implementation across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines
  • Lead experience with an emphasis on relationship management and communication at all levels within an organization

Working Environment / Physical Environment

  • This position works a hybrid schedule (combination of onsite and remote).

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

$130,000 (entry-level qualifications) to $150,000 (highly experienced)
