Assistant Store Manager Job Description

We are looking for an Assistant Store Manager who will support the Store Manager in bringing creativity and a selling centric energy to our store teams. In this leadership role it is critical you have the desire to help build the future of retail while maintaining the integrity of our brand's core values. The ASM must be a dynamic leader, capable of supporting the creation of an environment that is engaging and inspiring for both employees and customers alike. Through teamwork and collaboration, you will be leading retail strategies, supporting cross functional store operations, and driving top line sales goals. In the absence of a Store Manager this position assumes responsibility for the store and all aspects of store operations and its people.

About the Role:

  • Accountable for operational excellence in execution of daily store procedures, payroll management, cash handling and inventory control
  • Supports Store Manager in leading the team in achieving daily/weekly/monthly sales goals and financial plan with a primary focus on employee engagement and a collaborative selling environment
  • Can effectively assess and strategize how to drive performance goals (Conversion, Units Per Transaction, Sales Per Hour and other measurable KPI's)
  • Assists in the interviewing, hiring, training and retention of store team
  • Supports the onboarding process for new hires educating on Beyond Yoga core values, product knowledge, selling culture, and other employee responsibilities
  • Executes flawless store visual presentation by following corporate visual direction and recommending merchandising adaptations where needed
  • Ensures sound product inventory management through accurate receiving and sending processes, aides in the completion of all required business directives (ex. price changes/retickets, RTVs, markdowns, transfers); prevents loss by educating associates on customer service and ensuring company policies are being followed. Able to partner with Home Office as needed
  • Accountable to store manager for driving process adoption, opening and closing the store as a visible service leader and supporting resolution of customer concerns with a positive outcome
  • Coaches and develops staff to increase their knowledge and skill sets, providing opportunities for continued development and growth within the organization
  • Manages minor employee relations issues including performance management and holding associates accountable for following Beyond Yoga and LS&Co policies and procedures
  • Able to build relationships and foster a positive, diverse, and inclusive work environment
  • Collaborate with store team and Home Office partners on building connections with the local community by way of events, drive brand awareness and engagement
  • A brand ambassador that embodies and can cultivate the company's core values

About You:

  • 3 years progressively responsible retail leadership experience
  • Solid experience and demonstrated skills in supervising, coaching and training a team
  • Retail apparel experience
  • Strength in customer service and selling with an ability to multi-task and remain flexible in an ever-changing environment
  • Strategic thinker, strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Positive, helpful demeanor and a passion and interest in Beyond Yoga
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the store, including evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and constant standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, bending carrying items, and reaching overhead; comfortable climbing ladders. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions
