Job Description

Summary

The Food Safety Quality (FSQ) Technician will work closely with the FSQ Supervisor in monitoring, quantifying, and filing all necessary HACCP and FDA documentation. The incumbent ensures compliance with all Good Manufacturing Procedures.

Essential Functions/Duties
  • Responsible for carrying out policies and procedures as implemented by FFG, including food safety and quality.
  • Responsible for verifying policy, procedure, and standard compliance through monitoring and documentation.
  • Assist the FSQ Supervisor in driving a food safety culture and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Identify and proactively prevent potential food safety/ quality issues.
  • Responsible for implementing corrective actions for non-compliance with policy and procedure and standards variance.
  • Work closely with the FSQ Supervisor in monitoring, verifying, and filing all Food Safety and Quality documentation.
  • Work with FSQ Manager and Supervisor on various FSQ projects, including regular specification checks, chef tables, and vendor audits; culinary evaluations of meals produced, including pork and other meats and fish, are required. Tasting of these foods is required.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, sanitation, and food safety processes and policies. Conduct root-cause analyses of customer complaints related to food safety and quality issues.
  • Participate in regulatory, third-party, and customer audits, inspections, and corrective action responses.
  • Take responsibility for leading change and improving ways of working in the operations.
  • Ensure proper training of new hires and existing employees.
  • Ensure production documentation and labeling requirements are achieved.
  • Absence: Duties shall be covered by the FSQ Manager, Supervisor, or designee.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability
  • BS preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of HACCP requirements, USDA, FDA, GMP, and sanitation requirements.
  • Inventory knowledge.
  • Knowledge of kitchen machines and tools.
  • Experience in a USDA facility a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
 
Experience/Education
  • High School equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and FDA compliance

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in an office environment, and this position will routinely use standard office equipment. The facility is widely refrigerated and requires work inside refrigerated processing areas.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods and reach with hands and arms. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position.  Days and hours of work may vary depending on the needs of the business. 

Must be willing to work any shift or days off as leadership assigns.
