Job Description

ImmunityBio, Inc. is a late-stage immunotherapy company developing a broad pipeline of next-generation therapies that drive immunogenic mechanisms for defeating cancer and infectious disease. The company's immunotherapy platform is designed to activate both the innate (natural killer cell and macrophage) and adaptive (T cell) immune systems to create long-term "immunological memory." The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted for review ImmunityBio's resubmission of its Biologics License Application (BLA) for N-803, a first-in-class IL-15 superagonist, plus Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) for the treatment of BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer carcinoma in situ (CIS) with or without Ta or T1 disease, and has set a user fee goal date (PDUFA date) of April 23, 2024.

Position Summary

This position will play a critical role in the revenue accounting function to ensure a high quality, accurate and efficient monthly and quarterly financial close. The role will also help generate and lead process improvements and optimization of our business processes specific to financial management of revenue and Accounts Receivable activities, including ownership of Commercial AR SOX internal controls processes, to ensure scalability of the Company's operations to support future growth. The position will also play a key role in the monthly and quarterly closes by supporting the team with various accounting duties.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the revenue team in efforts to improve and enhance business processes supporting revenue and accounts receivable activities; and oversight of the Commercial AR SOX internal controls processes.
  • Perform month end close activities for Accounts Receivable and gross-to-net revenue, including preparation of related journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Be accountable for the accuracy of the revenue related accounts in the general ledger in accordance with US GAAP and Company policies
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), and other teams to ensure contracts and renewals are compliant with accounting guidelines
  • Work with third party logistic organization (3PL) to ensure proper monthly reporting
  • Perform analytics around gross-to-net revenue line items
  • Be responsible for the preparation of analyses in support of established AR reserves and ensuring reserves are complete and accurate
  • Gather information and prepare schedules to support the Company's SEC filings and internal reporting
  • Assist in process and system implementation and improvements
  • Be responsible for SOX 404 compliance including:
  • Internal control documentation (maintenance of process narratives, control matrices and flowcharts) for revenue processes
  • Completion of walkthroughs and testing process in conjunction with a third-party consulting firm for revenue processes
  • Prepare schedules and provide support for SOX 404 audits over revenue processes
  • Support or lead the finance team's efforts in completion of the quarterly reviews and annual audits by the independent external auditors, including preparation of supporting schedules
  • Recommend and implement any changes necessary to improve the revenue accounting close process.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the revenue accounting close process is streamlined, and all deadlines are met
  • Support the maintenance and ongoing compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Performs other special projects and duties as needed.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA, CPA are preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years progressive experience in accounting/finance
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in revenue and accounts receivable area
  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience
  • Experience with revenue recognition, gross to net Accounting, AR activities and accruals
  • Experience in a public company
  • Experience leading and driving process improvements
  • Demonstrated understanding of revenue accounting principles with the ability to work closely with other functions
  • Demonstrated understanding of rebate and chargeback process including commercial and government contracts
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley requirements the revenue and AR areas

  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word and PowerPoint and significant experience using Excel
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies
  • Detail oriented, able to complete assignments on time, flexible in changing environment
  • Must be able to prioritize, organize and handle several projects simultaneously

Working Environment / Physical Environment

  • This is a remote role with the ability to be on site for meetings on a as needed basis.

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

$125,000 (entry-level qualifications) to $150,000 (highly experienced)
