Position Summary:

The Residential Monitor is responsible for providing direct supervision to transitional aged youth (TAY) enrolled in the Transitional Housing, Crisis, Bridge, and Enhanced Emergency Shelter programs, with the ultimate goal of helping participants transition to permanent housing. The Residential Monitor's role is to promote independent living skills and self-sufficiency of all clients served.

Essential Functions:

  1. Monitor facility and conduct facility rounds, ensuring designated doors are locked, cameras are operating properly, hallways/facility are free from obstacles and safety hazards
  2. Maintain cleanliness of facility through daily cleaning and maintenance of all common areas including kitchen, restrooms, living room, dining spaces, and patios
  3. Supervise cleaning supplies and ensure they are kept in a locked designated area
  4. Provide excellent customer service to all clients, vendors and collaborators
  5. Provide guidance and support with client Activities of Daily Living (hygiene, personal belongings, ect)
  6. Complete administrative tasks as assigned by Program Coordinator and Administrative staff.
  7. Provide supervision to residents individually or in group activities including meals, chores to ensure program compliance
  8. Complete all required paperwork in a timely, accurate, legible manner, including but not limited to: Incident Reports, Non-Compliance Notification forms, Rounds/Shift report, Maintenance Request forms
  9. Facilitate group activities as assigned
  10. Participate in ongoing trainings relevant to supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders and transitional age youth
  11. Provide crisis intervention as needed
  12. Verify that residents are accounted for and in compliance with program rules.
  13. Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service trainings.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

Working Conditions:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

This position may be subject to EO 14042 which requires all employees to be vaccinated or be exempt for medical or religious reasons.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma
  2. Education or experience working with TAY, individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders preferred.
  3. Must be TB cleared & provide documentation annually.
  4. Maintain valid CPR/First Aid & Food Handler Certification

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  1. Ability to carry out assignments independently, maintain good rapport and communication with other co-workers, clients and the public
  2. Excellent communication skills for interaction with TAY experiencing housing instability
  3. Strong work ethic, ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct oneself professionally at all times
