We are seeking to fill an Intern - Materials & Processes Engineering role for Summer 2024 at its Los Angeles, CA location.
Internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

This role will be supporting rocket propulsion materials and process development.
After orientation and training, intern will perform entry-level engineering assignments under direct supervision of other engineers following established procedures and policies.
This position will support senior engineering staff and provide interns experience and familiarization with company programs, processes and products.
Projects may include materials engineering support for propulsion hardware design and fabrication and test.
Tasks may also include assisting in the selection of materials for product definition and application, the calculation of design allowables from literature and experimental data, the performance of material properties testing, performing chemical analysis testing, and the generation of technical reports and presentations to document technical conclusions/findings. Interns may also coordinate test activities in the laboratories.
Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Material Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Chemistry (or similar major) and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
3.2 GPA or above
Junior standing or above
Ability to perform statistical analysis of data in Microsoft Excel
Experience with data mining
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
