We are currently seeking a Specialist Engineer to support our Test Operations organization and report to the Component Test Center Manager or designated lead. This position performs a variety of test engineering tasks on components and sub systems from various product lines. This includes supporting in-line production component testing and experimental/developmental testing on fast-paced liquid rocket engine development programs. This individual will operate from the Canoga Park, California facility (Los Angeles area).

80% - Plans and directs component testing in the fields of pressure test, water flow test, gas flow test, vibration and shock test, spin test, and pump test. Primary duties include working with the test operations team and internal program/discipline customers to develop test operations methodologies and processes, design test equipment, fixtures and test systems, create and maintain test operations procedures, specifications and schematics, direct test technicians, analyze/validate test results, and write test reports. Individual must be able to perform test engineering activities with limited supervision, must be able to work productively in an environment with multiple, simultaneous high priority assignments, and must possess a relentless approach to safety.
10% - Plans and directs test facility and test equipment maintenance, repair, and procurement activities to assure test facility/equipment readiness. Interfaces with internal support functions and suppliers.
10% - Supports process monitoring and improvement activities, including: metrics charting, analysis and improvement project management; defect/mishap investigation and corrective action management.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related engineering/scientific discipline and nine (9) years of directly related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
